Maintaining good website health.
Maintaining good website health.
Good website maintenance is essential and will ensure optimal site performance. I have spoken in previous blogs about the ongoing maintenance required for the website content but this post is all about keeping your software up to date and doing all you can to ensure that your website doesn’t get hacked or blacklisted.
There are some simple tasks which should be performed every few months to ensure best website performance and security.
- If you are using a content management system or CMS you should ensure that you are using the most up to date version possible. It is VERY important to ensure that you make a full back up of the database and the website files before performing this task as sometimes the updated software can create issues with your website. Talk to your website administrator for advice.
- Set up a system for making a backup of your files and in the case of WordPress your database. There are a number of WordPress plugins which will allow you to do this and they are essential.
- A back up system will mean that whatever happens your website can always be put back online.
